TERMS OF BUSINESS, BOOKING & CANCELLATION POLICY

When booking an appointment and becoming a client of SSL Massage Therapies you agree to abide by the cancellation policy and terms of business.

Prices are correct at the time of publication and are subject to change without notice. Our website has the most up-to-date prices, printed pricelists are no longer valid and will not be reprinted as part of our environmental pledge. 

We aim to respond to all messages within 24 hours wherever possible during working hours.

Please allow longer if contacting us out of hours.

Booking fee

A 25% non-refundable booking fee is required for all appointments and must be paid on the day of booking unless otherwise agreed. If the payment is not received, the provisional booking will automatically be cancelled without notice and made available to other clients. Cash, bank transfer or card payment accepted. The non-refundable booking fee is deducted from the full cost of your treatment(s) when you attend your appointment. If you intend to pay the balance via bank transfer, please do so before the treatment commences so that we can confirm payment has been received before the treatment starts.

Make changes to your  booking

You can make any changes to the treatment booked up to 48 hours before your appointment, free of charge.

If it is less than 48 hours prior to your appointment, you can make 'like for like' changes, for example, you booked a 1hr Swedish Massage but you want a 1hr Sports Massage and if there is a suitable gap, you could increase the length of your massage. However,  you cannot make changes to reduce the length of your treatment due to the loss of income we would incur, as a small business we cannot sustain these sort of losses. If you choose to end your appointment early, the full charge will still be incurred.

Cancellations

We understand that emergencies happen but our small business cannot sustain the rising number of short notice cancellation. As a result we do enforce our cancellation policy, regardless of the reason for cancelling. You can reschedule your appointment or make any changes to the treatment booked up to 48 hours before, free of charge as long as you rebook within 12 months. If you do not rebook within 12 months of your original  booking, you will forfeit the booking fee paid and it will be deemed a cancellation charge. Any cancellation or reschedule made 12 - 48 hours before your appointment will incur a fee of 25% of the treatment cost. If less than 12 hours notice is provided a 50% charge is incurred. Failing to attend without any notice is charged in full. Your non-refundable booking fee will be deducted from these charges and should you wish to rebook a new non-refundable booking fee will be payable. 

If you repeatedly cancel at short notice we reserve the right to refuse booking.

Please note you should not have a treatment if you are feeling unwell, have a viral infection, bacterial infection, skin infection or are on any antibiotics. Certain medical conditions and medication may also be a contraindication to treatment, it is therefore imperative that you notify us of any changes to your health or medication at the earliest possible opportunity. If less than 48 hours’ notice is given you will be charged the cancellation fee.

If you are running late for your appointment, your treatment time may have to be shortened to avoid inconvenience to other clients but you will still be charged the full treatment fee. If you are more than 15 minutes late we may not be able to carry out your service and full cost will be charged.

Payment Methods

Cash (pound sterling) - we do not accept Scottish Notes or old £10 or £20 sterling notes or damaged notes e.g. with a tear in them.

Bank transfer - must be sent prior to the appointment commencing

Card payments accepted via SumUp - any credit or debit card that displays a Visa, V PAY, Mastercard, Maestro, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, or Union Pay logo as well as NFC payments via Google and Apple Pay.

Consultation

A short pre-booking consultation is performed prior to your first appointment to ensure suitability of the treatment for you. All clients are required to complete an electronic health declaration form and consent to treatment, these are stored on a GDPR compliant portal called Cliniko and will be emailed for you to complete at home. A record of all your treatments is kept for a minimum of 7 years after your last visit in line with our insurance requirements. A treatment specific consultation is completed face-to-face prior to every appointment.

Please note, it is your responsibility to notify us of any changes after your initial visit.

Vaccines

It is advisable to wait 48 hours after having any vaccine before having a treatment. If you are suffering with side effects from the vaccine, it is best wait to have any treatment until you are feeling well again.

Treating Minors

We will not treat children under the age of 10 years. Children under the age of 16 must have full written consent from a legal guardian who MUST accompany them to the appointment. Appointments for clients under 16 have to be booked outside of school hours. If we deem a treatment on a client under the age of 16 as unsuitable or inappropriate for the individual, we have the right to refuse treatment. The client must want to have the treatment done and be mature enough to follow the aftercare advice.

Pregnancy

We are covered under our insurance to provide treatments on pregnant clients, provided the manufacturers and training guidelines allows for use of the products or pieces of equipment on pregnant clients. If you have a history of difficult pregnancies or miscarriage, you must contact your GP, Consultant or Midwife, for written consent for the treatment to go ahead. Please note, we have not undertaken additional pregnancy massage training.

Health and Medication

It is your responsibility to inform us of any changes to your health or medication prior to your appointment. Some treatments are contraindicated if you have certain health problems, conditions or are on certain medication. This includes the common cold, skin infections and antibiotics so please notify us of any change in your current health, no matter how minor you may think it is, it could be very relevant. Failure to do so with more than 48 hours’ notice may mean your treatment can’t go ahead and a cancellation charge incurred.

Toilet Facilities

Toilet facilities are available for clients to use, these are in the main part of the house, up a flight of stairs. For security purposes, our insurance company stipulate that anyone wishing to use the toilet must be escorted to

the bathroom and that we wait outside.

Miscellaneous

As we are a home based clinic we do not have disability access, there is a low gradient slope down to the treatment room and two steps up into the room. We have an electric massage table with a lifting capacity of 205kg (440lbs)/230kg (500lb) working limit.

Gift Certificates

Whilst we do not take a non-refundable booking fee when redeeming a gift voucher that covers the full treatment cost, our terms of booking and cancellation policy still apply. Behaviour and Conduct

We have a zero tolerance policy for any inappropriate, abusive or threatening behaviour. If you behave in such a way you will no longer be accepted as a client at SSL Massage Therapies and such behaviour may be reported to the police if deemed necessary. We do NOT offer an form of sexual or erotic massage, please do not disrespect us by asking for "extras" or "happy endings".

If you do not abide by the Terms of Business and Cancellation Policy, SSL Massage Therapies have the right to refuse treatment. SSL Massage Therapies also have the right to refuse treatment if they do not feel it is in your best interests.
